What setup is for
For the owner and managers, Getting started (in the menu, with the number of steps done, for example 2/6, and at the top of the dashboard) lists what you need for your first day in the shop. Each step ticks itself automatically once the till sees it is done: there is nothing to tick by hand. Each step's button opens the screen where it is done. Cashiers do not see it.
Once all six steps are done, setup leaves the menu and the dashboard. The page stays available here: Setup.
The setup wizard, which opens the first time you sign in, helps you enter these settings step by step. Setup checks that they are done.
The six steps
- Business details: the address, the ICE (15 digits) and the tax ID (IF), in Receipts and printing › Receipt header, and the trade register number (RC), in Invoices and quotes › Settings. The receipt and the invoice print them.
- Products: at least 5 products of your own, or a catalogue imported from a file in the catalogue. The three sample products installed with the till (Tomatoes, Mineral water, Bread) do not count.
- Product VAT: every active product has a real VAT rate. The till comes with a placeholder rate, “Synthetic 20 %”, which is not a real rate. Create your rates in the catalogue › VAT rates, then give each product its own. A sample product you do not sell can simply be deactivated.
- Printer: a receipt printer set up in Receipts and printing and a test page printed, or a receipt already printed on it. If you change the printer's address, print a test page again. With no receipt printer, tap I don't print: it is the only step you confirm by hand. The till records who chose it and when, and Undo “I don't print” takes it back.
- First sale: a sale on this till, from the till. LePOS has no practice mode: it is a real sale, counted in reports and stock. For a test sale, sell an item, then void the sale or make a return from Sales and returns (see Returns, exchanges and manager approval). The sale and its cancellation stay in the log.
- Shift closed: a first close of the till session, with the drawer count (see Till: opening, cash movements and closing).
Optional: the team
Below the steps, Team shows whether a second person has their own PIN, in Team. It does not count towards the six steps.
Good to know
- Setup applies to this till: a till added later has its own, for its first sale and its first close.
- A step that was done and no longer is (an address deleted, for example) unticks itself, until all six have been done once. After that, setup stays complete.
- It never appears on the online demo tills.
- The online dashboard has its own setup (till installed, products, team): see Online dashboard.
