What it is for
The restaurant plan adds table service to the café plan: a floor plan, a bill per table with its covers and its server, sending to the kitchen by course (starters, mains, desserts) and the end-of-service report. A table bill is a café order: the kitchen, the kitchen screen, receipts, refunds and recipes work as usual (see Kitchen and handing over orders). Takeaway and delivery orders carry on alongside, on the same till.
Turning on table service
- The café plan must be turned on. Open Receipts and printing: the Table service card is below the café plan card.
- Turn on table service (owner or manager). An area called Main room is created, with no tables.
- Adjust if needed:
- Number of covers when opening a table: required (default), optional, or never asked.
- My tables only: a cashier can open any free table, but can only change, send, call and take payment for the bills they serve; other people's bills show “Table served by …: read only”. The owner and managers can do everything.
- Back to the PIN screen after “Send”: for a shared till, each server types their PIN again after sending and after a payment.
- Long stay alert (minutes): an orange outline on the table after this time (90 by default, 0 = never).
Table service cannot be turned off while a table bill is open; the café plan cannot be turned off while table service is on. If the message “Restaurant plan not included” appears, contact LePOS.
Drawing the floor plan
On Floor plan, Edit floor plan (owner or manager):
- + Area: Main room, Terrace, Upstairs… Each area has its own tab.
- + Table: a short name (12 characters at most, for example 5 or T12), the number of seats, the shape (square, round, rectangular) and the size in grid squares.
- Place the tables by dragging them on the grid, with the arrows or the keyboard keys, then Save floor plan. Duplicate copies a table; Delete removes it from the plan (its history stays). A table with an open bill cannot be deleted.
- Default course by category: choose the course for each category (Direct, Starter, Main, Dessert). Drinks stay Direct: they go out straight away.
Opening a table
- On Floor plan, tap a Free table.
- Type the number of covers, then Open table (or No covers when they are optional).
- Add items as for a café order. The header shows “Table 5 · 4 covers · Karim”: the server is the person signed in.
Nothing is saved before Send: the table stays “Open” on this till only. The floor plan colours: Free, Open, In kitchen, Next course to send (a course is waiting), Bill (the bill has been printed). Each table shows its covers, its total, the server's initials and the minutes since the guests sat down. A table can carry two bills: tap it to choose, or New bill on this table.
Courses and “Call next course”
Each item has its course, taken from its category: tap the tag under the item to change it before sending (after that, it cannot be changed).
- Send sends everything to the kitchen: the ticket groups items by course; the first course goes out straight away, the following ones are printed under “TO FOLLOW” (the kitchen preps without cooking them). A starter added after the mains goes out straight away.
- When the table is ready for the next course, tap Call: Main: the kitchen gets a short ticket CALL — TABLE 5 — MAINS — 4 covers with the items; on the kitchen screen, the course lights up with “CALLED”. Calling the same course twice prints nothing more. All courses fired: every course has gone out.
- After “Send”, the till goes back to the floor plan.
The bill
Bill prints the bill on the receipt printer: the shop name, the table, the covers, the server, the items, the total and, from two covers, Per person. It is marked “This document is not a till receipt”. The table switches to Bill; if an item is added afterwards, it goes back to its previous state and the bill needs reprinting. With no receipt printer, the bill is shown on screen. To take payment: Charge, like a café order; the till receipt is the only tax document. The table is freed when its last bill is paid.
Cancelling an item already sent
Lowering or removing an item already sent needs a Reason for cancelling: input error, customer changed their mind, dish sent back, or other (with a note). The reason is printed under “CANCELLED” on the kitchen ticket and recorded in the log; it appears in the restaurant report. A cashier can cancel on an unpaid bill.
More actions on the bill
On a sent bill, More bill actions (changes must be sent first):
- Move to another table: to a free table, the bill changes table; to an occupied table, choose Merge with No. … or Add a 2nd bill on this table.
- Merge with another bill: all the items go onto the chosen bill, the covers are added together, and the other bill is closed.
- Transfer items: choose the items and quantities, then the destination bill or a free table. A combo moves as a whole.
- Split bill by item: the chosen items go onto a new bill for the same table (with its own covers), paid separately with its own receipt.
These operations print nothing in the kitchen: nothing is cooked twice, nothing is cancelled. The bill's next ticket shows the new table name.
Items on the house
Give an item free (owner or manager): choose the item, the quantity and the reason (birthday, long wait, regular customer…). The item is still prepared, its price goes to 0; at payment, the receipt shows it with a 100 % discount “On the house: reason”, and VAT stays correct. Undo a free item gives it back its price. An item in a combo cannot be put on the house.
Splitting the payment
In a table's payment window, Split bill divides the total into equal parts (the number of covers is suggested, from 2 to 20; the leftover cent goes on the last part). Take each part in cash or by card (Charge part 1…) following the Left to pay; a custom amount counts as one part. A single receipt is printed, with several payments. For one receipt per person, use Split bill by item instead.
Changing server
Change waiter (owner or manager) gives the bill to another server. A bill's sales and tips go to the table's server at the time of payment, even if someone else takes the payment.
Several tills
With several tills (see Several tills in a café):
- The floor plan is drawn on the main till (T1) and reaches the others by itself: they show “Plan managed by till T1.”.
- Each bill is held by a single till. Tap another till's table: Take over here moves it to your till. Moving, merging and transferring need both bills to be on the same till.
- A till with open table bills cannot join a main till: take payment for them or close them first.
- A bill whose table is no longer on the plan shows under Other bills.
Closing the till
At close, the till lists the bills still open by table, number, covers and server. Close anyway leaves them open: they are paid at the next opening.
The restaurant report
Café reports › Restaurant tab (owner and managers, only with table service) gives, for the chosen period, this till's table bills:
- By waiter: bills paid, covers, net after returns, average per cover and per bill, tips.
- By day: covers, average per cover, average time at the table (from sitting down to payment) and Table turnover (parties served divided by the plan's active tables; a split bill is still one party).
- Bills open now: table, server, covers, total and minutes.
- Cancellations after sending (with reason and employee) and Free items on paid bills (value before going on the house, reason, who approved it).
Each table has its own CSV. Takeaway, delivery and grocery sales stay in the other tabs; the net on the Restaurant tab is part of the net on Sales.
