How it works
A café can have up to four tills (counter, terrace…). Over the café's Wi-Fi, they share open orders, the kitchen screen, the ready-orders display, the To prepare totals and sold-out items. Each till keeps its own drawer, receipts and close: money never moves from one till to another, and the kitchen never needs internet.
- The main till is the one that runs the kitchen screen (Receipts and printing › Kitchen screen). It has the prefix T1.
- The others are secondary tills: T2, T3, T4, in the order they are paired.
Pairing a till
- On the main till: Receipts and printing › Café tills › Pair a till. An 8-character code and the address (for example 192.168.1.10:4318) are shown for 5 minutes.
- On the other till: Receipts and printing › Café tills › Join the main till, enter the address and the code.
- The other till shows a two-digit number. A manager checks it is the same on the main till and taps Confirm.
Both tills must belong to the same shop and be on the same Wi-Fi. Reserve a fixed address (DHCP reservation) for the main till. Leave the café makes a till independent again; Unpair on the main till does the same.
Order numbers
In a café with several tills, each number carries the prefix of the till that took the order: T1-042, T2-015. Each till counts its own numbers, and the prefix never changes during an order. It is printed on kitchen tickets, the order slip and the till receipt (“ORDER No. T2-015”) and shown on the kitchen screen and the ready-orders display. A café with a single till keeps numbers with no prefix.
Other tills' open orders
Orders › Open also shows the other tills' orders, with the Till T2 badge, the server's name and, at the bottom, Waiting for payment for the whole café. An order belongs to the till that holds it: only that till can change it, cancel it or take payment for it.
- To take payment here, tap Take over here: the till holding it hands it over within a few seconds if it is still open, at the same version, and no ticket is being sent. After that, it is yours: Charge, Resume, Cancel as usual. The payment goes into your drawer, with your receipt number; the order keeps its T2-… number.
- If the other till does not respond (switched off, Wi-Fi down), the message “Till T2 is not responding — take payment on T2” appears after 10 seconds.
- A paid order stays on the till that has its sale: additions and refunds are made there.
- Handed over, and Received / Ready for a printer station, can be tapped on any till.
The kitchen screen and the printer
The kitchen screen is connected to the main till: it shows the orders from all tills. For a printer station, each till prints its own tickets; set up the same kitchen printer on each till (Receipts and printing › Kitchen stations).
When the main till does not respond
Every till keeps selling. After 15 seconds without the main till, a secondary till prints on its own kitchen printer the tickets that were meant for the screen and that nobody has received yet, marked SCREEN OFFLINE — TILL T2; its new tickets go straight to paper. A ticket may then come out twice (once from each till): the note says so, and no ticket is lost. Everything syncs again when the main till is back.
Sold-out items
A product or an option marked sold out on one till is sold out on all of them within seconds (the last decision wins).
End of day
A till's close counts only the orders it holds. Other tills' open orders are listed for information.
Copying the menu from one till to another
The café menu (options and their quantities, price reductions, stations, combos, product settings) is set on one till and then copied: Café tills › Export menu downloads a signed file; on the other till, Import a menu shows a summary (added, updated, archived, skipped) before Replace this till's menu. A file changed after export, or from another business, is refused. Sold-out items, printers and recipes are not copied. Kitchen stations you created (printed name, Arabic name, paper fallback) are copied; their sending and their printer stay set on each till. Update LePOS on all tills before swapping a menu that contains added stations: an older till refuses that file.
Menu managed from the web dashboard
The owner can also manage the café menu from the web dashboard, for all tills at once (dashboard › Café › Café menu). The Café menu card (Receipts and printing) shows where this till's menu comes from and its version.
- A new version applies as soon as no order is in progress on this till: while a receipt is open, an order is being edited or a payment is in progress, it waits (“New version waiting”). Clear the receipt or take payment: it applies and the message “Menu updated from the web” appears. An order already sent to the kitchen keeps its prices; “Send to kitchen again” recalculates it with the new menu.
- Meanwhile, options, combos, product café settings, category stations and menu file import can no longer be changed on the till (“Menu managed from the web dashboard”). Sold-out items, kitchen stations (names, printers, screens), recipes and menu export stay on the till.
- Without internet, the till sells with the last version it received. Each till in the café gets the version itself: they update one after another, each when it is free.
- If the dashboard names a station this till does not have, the products concerned follow their category or the default station (the card flags it). A combo with a product missing on this till stays disabled there until the product arrives.
- When the owner goes back to the tills' menu, the till keeps the last version as its own menu, which can be edited here again.
Reports
Each till's Café reports cover its own sales. Numbers appear there without a prefix.
Security and address changes
Tills talk to each other encrypted (TLS): each recognises the other by its key, remembered at pairing. A till pretending to be the main till is refused (“link refused”), and the other till prints its tickets itself. Café tills shows “Encrypted link”; a till paired before the update encrypts by itself as soon as both tills are up to date.
If the main till's address changes (router restarted, no DHCP reservation), the secondary tills find it on their own on the network in under a minute, with no new pairing. Still, use a password-protected Wi-Fi reserved for staff. No money amounts, customers or passwords travel between the tills.
