Margins, stock value and discounts

What you really earned per product and per category, what your stock is worth, slow-moving stock, your best customers, the discounts given and sales history, including sales from your old software.

Margins and stock is for the owner and managers only. Choose the period (Today, 7 days, 30 days, This month, 12 months or two dates); every table downloads as CSV.

Margins

The period's turnover excl. tax (returns deducted), cost of sales, gross margin and margin rate, by category, by product and by day. Lowest margins shows the products sold that earn the least; Products with no sales the ones that did not sell in the period.

A product's cost is its current cost: the average cost of your goods received, otherwise the cost of its recipe (café), otherwise the cost entered in the catalogue. A sale does not keep its cost: a past period is calculated at today's cost. A product with No cost is never counted at 0: its sales are flagged separately and left out of the margin rate. Enter its cost to include it.

Stock value

This till's stock at cost and at selling price (at the till's prices), the potential margin, the stock age since the last delivery, and slow-moving stock: products in stock with no sale for 30 to 365 days (Dead after setting). Tick Dead stock only to plan a promotion or a return to the supplier.

Customers

Best customers: net purchases for the period, number of visits and average basket. Inactive customers: those who used to buy and have not come back for the number of days chosen. A sale counts for a customer when it goes on their credit book or earns them loyalty points.

Discounts

Item and basket discounts, changed prices and promotions, by reason and by cashier (promotions are automatic and are not attributed to the cashier).

Sales history

Sales incl. tax for the period by month and by product, with the same month a year earlier and the change as a percentage. LePOS sales are net of returns; sales brought over from your old software are in their own columns, marked imported.

Bringing over sales from your old software

Data migration › Past sales (history) reads a CSV or Excel file, one row per item sold: date, receipt no., product (SKU or name; a product not in the catalogue is kept under its name), quantity, unit price incl. tax, VAT rate (0, 7, 10, 14 or 20), payment and customer. The dry run shows every row with an error; nothing is saved before Confirm.

These sales are for reports only: they count only in Sales history. They are never in the daily report, the till, the VAT to declare or the accounting exports (your old software has already declared them), nor in margins (their cost at the time is unknown), stock or customers' credit books, and they are never sent to the online dashboard. Only days before your first LePOS sale are accepted, so nothing is counted twice. The same file can only be imported once, and a receipt already imported is rejected. Made a mistake? Delete import in the migration history removes all its rows at once; fix the file and import it again.
