Why
The till keeps sales on this computer before sending them. A backup contains all sales and the database's encryption key: it lets you reinstall the till on a new computer.
How
Team › Backup › Back up now (manager or owner). The date of the last backup is shown, and Till status warns you if it is more than 24 hours old.
Keeping a copy
Copy the backup folder shown onto a USB stick and keep it somewhere safe, outside the shop. It contains the database key: treat it like the key to the safe.
Restoring
Restoring onto a new computer is done with the installer or with LePOS support. It checks the backup's integrity before writing anything.
Your data in Excel
Data and exports (manager): each file (sales, lines, returns, stock, customers, till, VAT…) downloads as Excel or CSV, for the chosen period. In the Excel file, amounts and quantities are real numbers (ready to add up), barcodes and phone numbers stay as text, and no cell is a formula. The café and restaurant report tables have the same choice (File format). This is not a backup: only a backup lets you reinstall the till.
